The Events
The Australasian Championship is a 24 hour event – starting at 11am on Saturday. This event will also incorporate the 2027 Intervarsity Championship.
The associated 6-Hour event (non-championship) event also starts at 11am on Saturday but finishes at 5pm on the same day.
The challenge is to amass as many points as possible by visiting checkpoints of varying value in the time available. However your team can always come back to the event centre (Hash House) for a snooze before heading out again. Our catering team will be providing soups, hot food and hot drinks to keep your team on the go.
When & Where?
The venue for the 2027 Australasian Rogaining Championship is southeast of Ross, Tasmania. The event will be held on the weekend of 17 – 18 April, 2027.
The hash house is perfectly located, just 140 km from Hobart and 100 km from Launceston. You will enjoy classic Midlands terrain: around 20% open farmland and 80% beautiful bush, offering a fantastic mix of fast running, navigational and physical challenges and spectacular scenery.
The organisers will be providing bus transport for the event but why not stay for a longer break and enjoy Tasmania? The Map & Course
The course will be set to a high navigational standard for the teams covering much of the course, but controls closer to the Hash House will cater for rogainers of all abilities. The 1:33,333 scale A2 map shows fine contour detail and vegetation runnability derived from high-accuracy LIDAR topographic survey.
The area is classic Tasmanian spur-gully terrain which means some of the navigation will need extra attention!

The course setting and vetting team (Sebastian Burgess, Jeff Dunn, Gary Carroll, Peter Tuft and Robyn Tuft) are highly experienced rogainers.
The map has been specially prepared by Gary Carroll using OCAD software.
Typical Terrain
The terrain you will experience is similar to that shown in the following past event maps. All these events were held in the same general area as ARC2027.
Bus Transport
The organisers will arrange bus transport to and from the Hash House. For safety reasons we strongly encourage participants to use this transport. Bus times will be selected that optimise the ability of participants to link in with flights.
Hash House
The Hash House will be open from 1 pm on Friday until after the event finishes. It is located on private farm land which is scenic but has limited facilities. There will be plenty of water and toilets provided by the organisers but no showers or power. RT will be providing a limited number of gas burners and hot water if you want to cook your own evening meal on Friday night or breakfast on Saturday morning.
The Hash House is close to the Ross and Campbell Town townships. Both places offer facilities (BBQs, restaurants, pubs etc) if you have your own transport and wish to eat out on Friday night on the way to the event.
The organisers will provide under-cover spaces (marquees), tables and chairs primarily for the use of interstate visitors. It would be great if as many participants as possible bring their own shelter, table and chairs.
Access to the camping area is suitable for all vehicle types including campervans and caravans.
Weather and Climate - Ross
Climate Expectations for April:
Day Temperatures: Mild peaks averaging 16°C to 18°C.
Night Temperatures: Cold dips averaging 5°C to 8°C.
Rainfall: Generally dry with about 8 to 14 days of light showers.
